Declared My Major

I am officially an International and Area Studies Major

I'm really excited about my decision! It's still pretty early to be declaring majors - most people won't do it till next year but I've really thinking this through over the last month or so and I knew it was the right decision... so why wait?

Here's a link to the website in case you want to know more about the department: IAS

And here's the link to the specific concentration that I am doing: Sustainable Development

I am really excited to continue down this road! I've already taken 9 of the 36 credits so I will definitely be pairing it with a minor, if not two.

I'm considering the Children's Studies minor and/or a business minor. I haven't (and won't) make that decision until next winter at least. But I did register for both the intro to children's studies course and one of the business prereqs. So we'll see!

Also, I'm going to be taking Swahili next year! How cool is that? I need to have four semesters of a single language in order to major in IAS and since I don't want to continue with spanish, I have to start over with something. So I decided to take Swahili!

And that means that my study abroad program (during my junior year) will most likely be in Kenya! I'm pumped about that and can't wait to begin exploring that option!

So that's my exciting news! Now it's Friday and I cannot believe that I only have one week of classes left! How crazy is that?! I mean, it's only mid-April for goodness sake! But I absolutely cannot wait to get home and be with my fam :) I miss them and am looking forward to a nice, long summer!
