Start of Summer

I have a love/hate relationship with relaxing. I love it the night before - when you are anticipating doing nothing and wasting the day away. But then, when it is 11am and you are sitting there, with nothing to do and nowhere to go... i hate it. I have to have stuff to do! I love to be busy!

So here's some of what I have entertained myself with these last two weeks:

Cooking/Baking:

Here's mom enjoying my lemonade cake!

I've also loved catching up with my friends!

Steph and Jord and I went up to a beach in Juanita and just enjoyed a beautiful day and being back in each other's company!

When Gramma Mary was here, we all went up to Newcastle and had dinner - I am so in love with this view.

Cooking Blog

I'm going to write a longer post about how incredible summer has been so far - but first I wanted to share with you my other blog!

I decided to start a cooking blog to keep track of all the yummy things I have been making and will now have time to make this summer! And I wanted to be able to share my recipes so I thought, let's make a new blog!

I do fully believe in the name of it :)

As I have more time in the next few weeks, I'll be adding many more recipes and streamlining it so it is easy to use! Hope you guys enjoy it!

Reading Week and Finals Round 2

Okay! What's new this week? Well, how about the fact that I GO HOME IN FOUR DAYS. 4 DAYS PEOPLE. AND I'LL BE THERE FOR FOUR MONTHS. Wow.

This week was fun :) Monday-Wednesday was "Reading Week," which means study 24/7 for exams. But... if you're a lucky individual like me - who had only one easy exam and a paper this week - it means a full week of freedom!

It was so nice. So, so, so nice. I worked out every day, went to several coffee shops, watched a lot of my new favorite tv show (Friday Night Lights - oh my gosh, it's the best show ever), hung out with friends, slept in... it was great!

Oh, and it's HOT. REALLY HOT. It was 90 and humid all week. I like it when it's hot - but not like this. I can't go outside with immediately becoming drenched in sweat. Plus, random storms appear out of nowhere so you can never be sure when you will get stuck inside. And, it's way to hot to run outside and I miss my long runs through Forest Park! So I am so excited to get back home where it's not miserably hot and where I can run outside!

Tuesday night Dining Services (which was just voted the #1 Dining Services in the country - check that out here! You'll have to click all the way to #1 I think... But we are all quite proud!), anyways, dining services puts on a huge "Midnight Breakfast" on the Tuesday of Reading Week. They have a big brunch every Saturday and Sunday but this one is FREE and it's at midnight and it's just plain fun! And a great study break!

Last semester, Charlie and I REALLY wanted one of the tshirts that the staff gets. They threw a couple out into the crowd (the line is literally like hundreds of students long) and we wanted one sooooo badly! This time around, Charlie was determined to get one and so he decided to be first in line. We got there an hour early and got in line (yes we were first!). Well, he did get a shirt for being first in line and he was sooooo happy. But I didn't get one! I had gone outside for a couple minutes to call mom and so apparently I wasn't equally first in line. I was so sad.

But... I have connections with all the chefs and heads of dining services from the Chef Competition and so I pulled some strings and got my own shirt! Yay!

Thursday morning I had my Spanish exam. I didn't study too much for it and it wasn't very hard. Glad to have that class checked off!
Friday, I had my lens essay due for my Writing One class. You basically pick any "text" as a primary text and then analyze it through a scholarly text of your choice. It's a huge assignment but it's fun because you can choose whatever you want. I chose to use this commercial as my primary text - you may remember it from the Super Bowl last year and I looked at the nostalgia associated with the Darth Vader character. It was pretty interesting!

Friday night a big group of us went to The Range in downtown St. Louis. I had found this restaurant while Spenecer was visiting and we LOVED it.
My "Buzzed Burger" - espresso rubbed with apples, blue cheese and bacon. Heaven.
