Done with week 2!

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. My weeks are pretty hectic so be looking for blog posts on friday afternoons when i've got some time :)

The last week was great! It was my friend Shannon's birthday last friday so a huge group of us went over to the loop for dinner. The weather had been really cold last week, but then it got REALLY bad on friday and it rained/hailed/snowed and then everything froze. The whole school was an ice skating rink! We literally skated all the way (a mile there and back) to the loop!

I did lots of work the rest of the weekend... went to church... uh... and did more work. Story of my weekends.

The week was good. I'm settling into a good routine with my classes. The beginning of my week is hectic with longggggg days but each day is less and less towards the weekend so that's good :)

Hope y'all are doing well! Miss ya!

Day Two!

Today was another good day. I had Spanish in the am, then Writing 1 and intro to women and gender studies in the afternoon. My spanish professor was not at all what i was expecting, so i was thrown off for most of the class haha. Last semester, my professor Juliana, was from venezuela and spoke super fast with a pretty heavy accent. My professor this semester is as white as you can be :) She has no accent whatsoever (I have a better accent than she does!) and speaks super slowwwwww. It was great because I understood every single word in class today! She'll be great though. She knows her stuff and will be fun to have.

Writing 1 was okay. Its the only required class that we have to take. Charlie and I are in it together so thats about the only plus about it haha. The gal teaching it looks like she has been locked in a library for the last ten years and just came out yesterday :) I'm excited to be writing again... I've missed it. Don't quote me on that when I've got 3 papers due though!

Women and Gender Studies was great too. I was shocked by the professor. I honestly thought she was a student when she walked in! Super young, cute and so sweet. And she's in the middle of writing her dissertation! i'm impressed! The class will be super interesting and I'm really excited about it.

I've come down with a nasty cold :( I stocked up on tea, kleenex, airbourne and dayquil yesterday so hopefully I'll be able to get through it quick. Ugh. Prayers for quick healing would be much appreciated! I hate being sick!!

Okay, back to my reading... this semester is going to be SO full of reading... its ridiculous. i don't even know how much i've had today... like 80 pags for one class :(

Love you all!

Day One!

Classes started today! I was soooooo excited for my classes today and they definitely lived up to my expectations! On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have the Traffic of Women in Contemporary Cinema and Mexico and Immigration. Plus, my ILP (International Leadership Program) Seminar on Tuesdays.

The Trafficking class was soooooo good! I'm SO EXCITED about it! The professor is currently writing a book on the subject so she's very up-to-date and knowledgable on the issues. It's a film based class, so on Monday nights we meet from 7-10 and watch a movie and then discuss the films and other readings in class tues/thurs.

My Mexico class was great too :) The professor is fantastic and I'm really excited to have him. It is a continuation of the ILP program (with the Brazil class in the fall and this one in the spring) so we have all the same people in the class, which is so much fun. We're a really close-knitted group and it was so fun to see them all again.

And then during the ILP Seminar, the professor said that they are in the preliminary stages of planning a trip to Wash. DC for us!! We would leave right after finals and be there for four days. We are all SOOOOO excited :D

So there's my update on day one! Ive got three more classes tomorrow and then I'll have a better feel for how crazy this semester will be... currently looking like a LOT of readings. Ah well :)

School sweet School

I am back at school!

It's so good to be back :) I was getting very antsy at home and as all my friends had already gone back to school... there wasn't much left to do at home, although home was soooooooo wonderful.

I...
- Read the whole Hunger Games series and was surprised at how much I enjoyed them! I would definitely recommend the books for a quick read. Literally, I read the first one in one sitting.

- Read the first and am halfway through the second of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. Intense, but fantastic.

- Watched the first, second and third season of White Collar. Favorite tv show ever :) It's all on netflix if you wanna try it :)

- Saw ALL my friends!

- Ate at every one of my favorite places

- Baked some... not as much as I wanted, but I brought a mixing bowl and measuring cups and the like back with me :)

- Completed a gigantic spanish review packet. Not happy about having to do that OVER BREAK, but alas... you can never truely have a break.

I think that about sums up my break! So here we are now... classes start Tuesday, so I've got one full day to get myself organized school-wise and then we're off and running!

They'll be MANY more posts as classes get rolling to make up for my stark absence over the last month :)
