Here is a little photo journal of my time in Indonesia so far! I'll tell the story of everything we have done as you scroll through the photos...
After a long 21 hours of flying and airports, we are descending into Jakarta! Let the adventure begin!
This lovely view awaited me in the penthouse. It's especially spectacular in the evening with all the city lights.
Saturday night we went to the British Women's Association "Fashion Show" - it was really a succession of dance preformances by some of the British women. It was extremely well done and a blast to watch!
We played nine holes on Saturday and in a tournament on Sunday - the courses are beautiful and tropical and it is so much fun to have a caddy! They love teaching me Bahasa Indonesian. I had to learn my numbers quick so I could tell her what clubs I wanted :)
I bombed my drive on the "long drive" hole - outdriving both the men's and the women's markers!
These girls were reciting a poem at the big Gala event celebrating Standard Charter's 150 years in Indonesia. They asked me to help them with their pronounciation since they were reciting the poem in English!
They asked if I had brothers and sisters so I told them about Spencer and showed them his picture. They immediately thought he looked like Niall from One Direction - which is something that everyone in the States says too! It was pretty funny and they have quite a crush on spence :)
We went out into a community for one of SCB's community social responsibility (CSR) events. These children were participating in the Goal Program while a group of mothers were being taught financial literacy from a new book that SCB had developed (which I'm currently working on translating so I can see what we were teaching them!)
Tom and several other VIPs were making an appearance at the event. This was the welcoming procession!
Some of the bank staff who were teaching the women. I'm also helping this group with their own community event so we're quickly becoming friends!
The bathroom in this place - ummmmm.
Awaiting the VIPs
Cute kids :)

Tom and his procession
Distributing the new books who then gave them to the women!
The financial literacy discussions with the women - all in Bahasa so I had no idea what they were saying!
Some of the group!
All of the group!
Jakarta traffic is like nothing I have ever seen before! It's chaos!
Literally bumper to bumper and packed in so tight I'm shocked I haven't seen a mirror knocked off!
With some of the kids before they preformed at the gala
Decorations lining the entrance to the Gala
SCB's building
The outdoor part of the gala
Inside!
Some of the staff danced as part of the program of the evening - such elaborate and beautiful costumes!
More pictures and stories to come!
